Object Name Flag, Service
Description Wool bunting service flag. Predominantly red w/rectangular off-white panel in center. Flag has off-white canvas heading w/gold-colored grommets. Single blue felt star in center panel. Felt of star on other side is grey-blue. Red markings stamped on heading: 2« x 4. Word after this-unclear. Flag was in service flag-hung in a house to show that family had members in service during WWI. Star represented members in service. Attrib. John Gardiner (c.1870s pioneer in AZ). His son, John H. Gardiner (1894-1956) served w/expeditionary forces-France, 1918. Later was USGS engineer in AZ.
