Object Name Holster
Description Indian War Colt or Smith & Wesson Schofield 7 1/2 barrel holster. 3rd type 1881 Pattern Holster manufactured between 1885-1890 at Rock Island Arsenal. Black bridle leather consisting of 4 component parts, the body, flap, belt loop and bottom plug. The front flap has 2 holes, lower one for Smith and Wesson Schofield revolver, upper one for Colt revolver. Body of the holster is embossed w/ US in an oval. The size of belt loop of 3rd pattern holster (compared w/ 1st and 2nd type is increased to accept a woven cartridge belt. Crazing to leather, US embossing worn, all seams tight, original.
